St Vincent de Paul Society

The St Vincent de Paul Society is a Catholic charitable organisation which has been helping Australians for over a century.

The aim of the Society is to provide a means whereby members can practice Christianity by loving their neighbours in the person of the needy.

The work undertaken by the Society’s members is an imitation to its founder St Vincent de Paul who lived 1580 – 1660. His life was devoted to helping the under-privileged and St Vincent de Paul became the Patron of Christian Charity.

Society volunteers, in the spirit of justice and charity, assist people regardless of creed, colour, or political belief, while respecting their dignity, sharing their hopes and encouraging them to take control of their own destiny.  They also seek to co-operate in shaping a more just and compassionate community by sharing our resources.

Our local Conference provides aid to needy people by way of home visitation with material and moral support.  Assistance is given by guiding people towards specialist agencies and organisations.

Volunteers in the St Vincent de Paul society can be from all walks of life, creed, or race who volunteer within the spirit and ethos of the Society.
